Armin Shimerman is an American actor and author renowned for his diverse roles across television, film, and voice acting. His parents, Susan, an accountant, and Herbert Shimerman, a house painter, relocated the family to Los Angeles when Armin was 16. To help him acclimate, his mother enrolled him in a drama group, igniting his passion for acting. He later graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and began his theatrical career at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego before transitioning to television and film.

Shimerman is best known for portraying the Ferengi bartender Quark in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993–1999), a role he played throughout the series' seven seasons. He also appeared as Principal Snyder in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997–1999) and as Kramer's caddy, Stan, on "Seinfeld." In the realm of voice acting, Shimerman provided the voice for Dr. Nefarious in the "Ratchet & Clank" video game series and Andrew Ryan, the antagonist in "BioShock."

Beyond acting, Shimerman has co-authored several novels, including "The 34th Rule" (1999), a "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" novel written with David R. George III. He has also taught Shakespearean literature and acting as an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California.
